Powerful earthquake rocks northeastern Japan causing blackouts in Tokyo

Some areas of Tokyo experience a blackout after a strong earthquake shook large parts of northeastern Japan, including the capital on March 16, 2022, Japan. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, a 7.3-magnitude quake struck 60 kilometers (36 miles) below the sea at 11:36 p.m.
